I watched the final with friends at my place yesterday. I still can’t believe Zidane’s action. No matter what he was told, there was no excuse. He’s still, though, one of the best players around and it’s unfortunate that one of his worst moments (we all have some of those) happened at his last international game and at the World Cup where his talent was discussed and celebrated by everyone.

yep, unbelievable…it’s really sad to see all that talent end like that. on the other hand, besides playing great footbal, he also has a long history of indiscipline…i can’t say i’m sad for seeing france loose the final (after all, I’m Portuguese and we still haven’t manage to win them in a half-final :))…
I agree Zidane had no right to act the way he did. I also think they didn’t even deserve to get to the finals (can you tell I was cheering for PT during the semifinals?). All in all, I’m glad the French lost and Italy won… :o)
Zidane acted like this only one more time in his career… when a opponent player said some “nice words” about his origin (he’s from Algeria).
Sometimes, in such situations you forget your “place” in the world and you act as a simple person…
Personally, I do agree with you that it’s something that he souldn’t do. But, we must not stay at this action; we should see his total contribution in the soccer.
And yes, I was with French. I still can’t believe how Italy won Australia (and passed to the next round) with a phantom “gift” penalty in the 93rd minute…
This wasn’t just his last international game Savas. This was his last game period. Althought he might change his mind after what happened.
