I visited the Folklife festival here in Seattle over the weekend and I had a great time. I was really surprised to hear Greek music from “Children of the Revolution” who were not bad (it turns out that their lead singer is a second-generation Greek). It was a great atmosphere with lots to see but, of course, does not compare with the big festivals I know in Europe.
I was just checking out the BBC site and saw the links to this year’s events (UK and Europe) and I soooo wish I was around there. I am sure the US has similar events. Does anyone know a website where I can find information about festivals, bands, styles, etc.

Hey Savas,
I was afraid you were looking for a Eurovision analog in the US. How scary would that be?! ;o)
Anyway, here are a couple of music festivals in Seattle that are worth visiting (IMHO):
– http://www.bumbershoot.org/ (visited this last year, very cool)
– http://www.northwestarts.org/smf/aboutsmf.htm (Alki beach fest – I’m definitely visiting this one this year)
And links to bzillion of festivals:
– http://nwfolk.com/sked.html (Richard Gillman’s links to tons and tons of festivals in and around Seattle)
Does that help? :o)
Yes, it would have been scary to recreate the Eurovision experience here :-))
Thanks for the links! I’ll definitely visit the local festivals and look for others elsewhere as well!
Thanks Mirela!
You’re welcome! :o) Sorry for the lack of HTML tags on the links…
