We are thinking of running an ad-hoc BOF at GGF-11 on Web Services-based Grids. The BOF will be an informal gathering of people who are interested in building Grid applications using existing Web Services specifications.
Some suggestions for discussion:
- Have we reached the limit of what we can do with existing Web Services specifications when building Grid applications? Is it possible to build interesting services for Grid applications using simple specifications?
- Is wide industry support important to Grid application architects and developers? Is the support by all the industry leaders in the WS space of concern to the Grid community?
- What should the process of choosing and building on new/emerging specifications be? Shall we build Grid standards on unstable, not well supported, and not widely accepted specifications?
Please let me know if you want to give a 5 min presentation taking a position on the above headings. If more topics emerge, I will send them to you on time.
If you have suggestions for more topics, please email them to me.
Provisional date/time: Tue, 8 June @ 18.00 (no room information yet)
UPDATE (8 June 2004): We now have a room. The ad-hoc BOF is going to take place in Sea Pearl 3-4. Also, another topic has been added for discussion (plus any others that are may be suggested during the meeting).
