The Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything…

… is answered with a simple ’42’ as we all know from the “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”.

And indeed, ‘42‘ is also the answer to the question for my next job’s location 🙂 I’ve mentioned in this blog a number of times that I was looking for a new adventure. After a long road of interviews, deciding on a number of opportunities (thanks to all of those who considered me), and finally two strong possibilities completely different in nature, I’ve decided to join the tribe over at Redmond (my interview with MS). So, Microsoft it is then and more specifically the Distributed Systems Group in building 42 (here’s the channel 9 tour with Don Box as your guide).

I think this is a fantastic opportunity for me to work with and learn from folks like Don Box, Oliver Sharp, Chris Sells, Doug Purdy, Steve Maine, Gudge, all the Indigo folks and many more at Microsoft. I am hoping to get the opportunity to work with Jim Gray as well at some point but only time will tell.

I am not going to say anything about Newcastle and my boss Paul Watson yet. I’ll leave that for a separate entry when the time comes to go. I have so many good things to say about Paul and Newcastle. I owe them everything. Anyway… when the time comes. If all goes well (e.g. visa etc.), I am looking to move to the US West coast sometime in August.

A new road ahead, a new journey starts, a great adventure begins!
