Oh no!!! No traveling for 2-4 months!

What can you do to someone who lives to travel?... Tell them that they are not allowed to travel!!!

I am currently in the US on an O-1 visa. Microsoft has started the process for my green card application only a couple of months after my arrival. What I didn't realize was that once the application is submitted, which happened last week, I am not allowed to travel abroad until I get a receipt that it has been receivedmy application is processed. This takes anything from 2 to 4 months! This is true for O visas but not for H and L ones since those on H and L can travel within a couple of weeks.

This is a big blow. I was planning to do a lot more skiing at Whistler and visit Vancouver as much as possible.

Doh!

  1. Perhaps many Americans think that travel inside the United States counts as travel. And perhaps many Europeans think that it doesn’t. Is this a practical problem or an ontological one?

Perhaps many SOA folk think that interoperability inside the enterprise counts as interoperability. …

So, what’s the semantic definition of ‘travel’? Do you need a passport? Do you need to cross a boundary? Is that boundary a country’s border or just your appartment’s door?
